Stephanie Henderson Joins Concord Staff
 |
The Concord Campus is delighted to introduce Stephanie Henderson, newly appointed Executive Assistant to Dean Peter Wilson and campus Budget Officer. In addition to these primary responsibilities, Stephanie sees herself as a liaison with the Hayward campus. She joins us directly from the CSU, Chico campus where she worked for twenty two years in the Center for Regional and Continuing Education.
Raised in northern California, Stephanie earned her bachelor’s degree in social science at Chico State University. She has always been an outdoor enthusiast and headed for adventure during her college summers, working for guest services in Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks. Other college experiences include spending her junior year on an exchange program with the University of New Hampshire. |
Stephanie continued her education at CSU, Chico and earned a multiple subject teaching credential. Fate led her to teach second grade in the very same classroom her grandmother had previously been assigned to for many, many years!
Teaching didn’t agree with her as much as it did with her grandmother, however, and soon Stephanie joined the Continuing Education staff as the ‘Travel Study’ clerk. She served in several capacities during her tenure there including ‘Public Affairs Assistant’ and finally as Office Manager and assistant to the dean.
Stephanie came to the Bay Area since her husband works for Lawrence Livermore Lab. She is quite enthusiastic to get settled in to her new position here. ‘The setting and mission of the Concord Campus seem to be a good match for me. It is an exciting time to be involved with the change and growth of a small satellite campus. I look forward to working with such a cohesive, spirited staff and am optimistic about what we can accomplish together!’
One of the major challenges she perceives within the CSU is to maintain a level of expertise among staff with current and ever-changing technologies. ‘One of my goals is to help leverage and strengthen university systems and the tools we all need to be successful in our work.’
Stephanie is married with two sons working on their bachelor’s degrees and a cat named Kaboodles. In addition to her family, her primary interests include biking, hiking and traveling.
